David P. Dougherty has been a practicing attorney for over 19 years and presently practices law in Boulder, Colorado. He had been admitted to the U.S. District Court, District of Colorado; U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit and the U.S. Tax Court.
David is also actively licensed to practice in Florida and holds an inactive license in Oregon.
David graduated Magna cum Laude from the University of Colorado, Boulder in Classics and History and holds a Master’s Degree in Ancient History and Mediterranean Archaeology from the University of California, Berkeley.
He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Utah where he was awarded the American Jurisprudence Award in Evidence and served on Moot Court.
David presently practices in the areas of trusts and estates, business organizations and grandparent rights. He has taught continuing legal education seminars certified by the Colorado Supreme Court in the area of guardianships for the Colorado Guardianship Alliance and in estate planning for the Center for Legal Studies.
He has been quoted in the Denver Post, Boulder Daily Camera and Dow Jones Investment Advisor on topics such as advanced medical directives, irrevocable trusts and charitable trusts.
David enjoys athletic challenges and the Colorado outdoors. He has been a sponsored team member for the Colorado Relay from 2008 to 2010. www.coloradorelay.com. He has also completed several long distance inline skate races including the 87 mile Athens to Atlanta, www.a2a.net and the 128 kilometer Defi de Li'le de Montreal, www.defimontreal.com He has also finished various marathon races including the Las Vegas Marathon and Portland Marathon qualifiying him for the Boston Marathon.
